Paul Kessling- Painter

“Paul’s passion for painting and landscape began when he won a Royal College of Art Travel Scholarship to the South Pacific to study the statues of Easter Island. It was here that he first worked outside with inks on paper studying the ancient sculpture and the landscape. When he moved to Oxfordshire from London the effect of the place was immediate and he began to work outdoors on the undulating chalk hills of the Ridgeway. ‘My paintings deal with the underlying power of landscape; I trained as a sculptor and I am very much drawn to the forms and mass of the natural world seen through changing light and weather. It is this meeting of the transient and the permanent that I’m interested in.
