Klezmer-ish is what happens when four classically trained musicians let their hair down exploring a wide range of music from travelling people across the world and fuse it all together into their own unique sound. Join them on a musical journey through klezmer, tangos, gypsy jazz, Irish fiddle music…and Italian folk music.
The “day job” for these four outstanding musicians is playing with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. The demanding schedule of an orchestra leaves few opportunities for Klezmer-ish gigs and most of those tend to be in the north-west in and around Liverpool. This a rare and special opportunity to see them this far from their home base. We first heard them as guests on Radio 3 “World On 3” and just enchanted by their music. Still trying to figure out how we managed to get them along to our humble Space. But, booked they are and not to be missed.
Local musician and composer will be bringing his own unique blend of folk, roots and blues with a decided Mediterranean influence. His latest album reflects this in its title “From Blues to Rembetica” – rembetica being the Greek urban blues, songs of drug addiction, love, sorrow, exile, war and occupation. Whilst well known locally for his commitment to community music he has gigged in Denmark, Italy, France and around the UK.
Start: 8:00pm (Doors Open 7:30)
