For those who know and admire Steve Knightley, both as solo artist or as part of the multi-award winning Show of Hands, all we need say is “buy your ticket before they sell-out”. For everyone else – this is an opportunity to see one of the best songwriters and performers in the UK close up and personal (considerably more intimate than the Albert Hall which Show of Hands will soon be making their 5th appearance there).
The Newbury Weekly News review of Steve’s previous appearance, to a full house, at ACE Space neatly summarised the gig as “Traditional arrangements alternating with the singer’s own songs reflecting Knightley’s love of the West Country and West Devon, in particular, where his roots are, were threaded together with an easy, engaging chat that conveyed light and shade to his career.“
Steve is a superb song writer with thought provoking commentary on injustices from the past and present, local and global. With varied arrangements, style and tempo, playing a range of instruments and a fine, expressive singing voice he keeps his audience engaged and interested. An evening with Steve passes far too quickly.
We were delighted when Phil Beer suggested Megan to support him for his gig at ACE Space and now Steve has agreed to Megan as support for his return to ACE Space. In between times Megan toured with Show of Hands.
An exceptionally talented and award winning singer/songwriter living in Oxford. Of her album “Head, Hand, Heart” the Yorkshire Times said “she delivers a mix of sounds that will have your heart aflutter and your mind filled with curiosity. From the tender ‘Chemicals’ to the angst of ‘These Walls’ and breeze of ‘Garden’, Henwood does not disappoint”
Start: 8:00pm (Doors Open 7:30pm)
