How Was It For You?
Al Lewis from Wales and Alva Leigh from Mississippi were drawn together by their affinity for Americana music. It is only since 2014 that the two solo musicians first began writing together but since that time they have been nominated in 2 categories of the UK American Awards and toured with Deacon Blue. In September they showcased at the US Americana Festival in Nashville (part of the strong British contingent of that event).
Of their recent debut album “Ghosts” the Guardian headlined their 4 star review “striking sorrow and sweetness” and observed the duo are “led by the strikingly pure voice of Leigh, and given the lightest of touches from guitar, bass and drums”. FromTheMargins website said “you always hear something new with each listen despite the evident simplicity; the combination of the songwriting, Alva’s emotionally expressive voice, Al Lewis’ contrasting but equally effective singing, the serene harmonies, and the understated but animated guitar make the album a clean-cut jewel – Ghost is startlingly good”
